Santa Claus is coming to town!

My kids were able to sit on Santa's lap this past weekend at a family Christmas party. I was so proud of both of them. There were NO TEARS!!! They were both so excited to sit on his lap they could hardly wait for their turn.
Jena surprised us all when she asked Santa for a puppy. Hmmm.....
I was in shock when Drey hopped off my lap and ran up to Santa all by himself when it was his turn. I thought for sure that he would be scared of him and cry, but I was wrong. He even sat and talked to Santa. (well, nodded his head yes or no....that's pretty much all we can get out of him)

My Big Boy!

I decided to try and put Drey in a "big boy" bed this past weekend. He has actually done pretty good. Of course, we have the usual troubles of getting him to stay in his bed at bedtime and naptime, but really....what kid doesn't do that?? He loves it, and still gets excited to see it everytime he goes in his room.
Poor kid! This Cinderella bed was given to us for Jena by someone Kevin works with. I feel bad saying his "big boy" bed, when really its a girl bed.
I had to make a little change on it today to make it look a little more "boy-ish." Daddy will be happy with the BYU!

Laramie!

Kevin and I were planning on going to Mesquite this upcoming weekend, where Kevin was going to play in a softball tournament. When he checked his work schedule, he realized he is scheduled to be "on call" this weekend, so that little road trip went out the window. I was bummed because I was looking forward to just getting away. So....I opted for the next best thing. A 7 hour car ride with 10 guys to Laramie, Wyoming for the BYU vs. Wyoming football game. Instead of going somewhere a little warmer, I chose to go where I got to wear 9,000 layers of clothing to stay warm. Instead of seeing a swimming pool outside in the sunny weather, I got to see "Cowboy Ken" with nothing on except his barrel to cover him.
It was actually a pretty fun trip. It was nice to just sit back and relax, even if it wasn't as sunny and warm as I had hoped for.

"Cowboy Ken"

Just a few of us. The boys decided they had to "dance" on the field after BYU blew Wyoming away.

Happy Halloween!

Late, as usual, but Happy Halloween from our little witch and pirate.

Carving Pumpkins

Last night I decided to carve pumpkins with the kids. It was so much fun, especially with Jena this year. She was so excited about it. Drey was ok with it at first. He liked looking inside it at all the seeds and guts, but he decided to taste some and found out that it didn't taste good, and then he was done.
It took a little bit of convincing, but I finally got Jena to stick her hand in and pull out all the "guts." I loved her face while she did this! It was hilarious. But she liked doing it after she tried it. She cleaned out 3 of our 4 pumpkins almost all by herself.

The finished product

My latest purchase...

Kevin and I have been talking about putting a salon in our basement for me, just to have a place to do family and friends. We have even been working on organizing our basement and getting it in order so that we could put one in. It's a slow process though, with Kevin working and in school, and when I try to organize the basement, I get to take 2 kids down there with me. More things get pulled out than put away when the kids are down there. My neighbor across the street has had a salon in her home for the past 2 years and just took it out to make another room after she had another baby this summer. She put her salon equiptment up for sale, and it was such a good deal, there was no way I could pass it up. Even better....no shipping charges! Kevin and her husband just carried it across the street to our house. So, even though our house is not even close to having a salon, I have the equipment when we're ready!

My kids now think this is their new playground.

College GameDay!

My husband is the luckiest guy I know. He has a knack for winning things on the radio. Here's a few things he has won in the past:
- 6 ski passes to the Canyons. He won 2 tickets each day for 3 days IN A ROW! The station was doing random trivia questions and he just happened to know (or guess) things like the longest recorded flight of a chicken, and the year the Rubik's cube was invented.
-BYU vs.Utah football tickets
-Board games
-Concert tickets
On Saturday, Kevin and his friends were already planning on going down to Provo where ESPN's College GameDay was being held. He had heard that the radio station 1280 The Zone said that they would give away a bunch of free stuff if anyone could get a 1280 poster on College GameDay. He made a 1280 The Zone poster and decided to give it a try. Kevin and his friends were in the best spot, right on the front row, and they even made friends with one of the camera guys. He got on TV a ton! Click here to see some pictures of him on College GameDay. Needless to say, my husband wins again....over $300 in free stuff just for getting his poster on TV!

Random pictures

Jena loves to "read" stories to Dreyson. It's usually a story or a book with a song in it that she has memorized, but she pretends to read it to him. It's super cute.

What a cute boy! I think there is a picture of my husband just like this when he was little.

Jena came running one day to show me the "socks" she had found. She was wearing the covers to Kevin's golf clubs on her feet like socks. So cute! (She had also dressed herself in her pj's that day and if you look closely, you can see how well she did the buttons, even if they don't match up... :) )

Kevin came home from work looking like this one day. I totally started cracking up, it was SO funny! He was black from head to toe! See how black his hands are?? ....he even had gloves on! And had washed his hands about 4 times throughout the day.

Aquarium

Last week we went to the Living Planet Aquarium. My kids and I had never been there and we had a lot of fun. Here we are trying to touch the sting rays. Drey was happy just to splash in the water.
Jena wanted to touch one so bad. She was trying to be so brave, but everytime they would come close enough, she would back away or they were too deep that her little arm couldn't reach far enough.

We finally got her to touch one and she was so proud of herself. She was soaking wet when we got done. (Its hard to see in this picture, but one whole side of her shirt is wet and all up her sleeve...and it was even rolled up)

This is what happens when you leave 2 kids alone to eat their dinner while you run upstairs for 30 seconds. This is exactly how I found them....including Drey sitting on the table.

First BYU Game

Jena went to her first BYU game with Kevin on Saturday. I suggested to Kevin that he should take Jena with him since the game overlapped with the Relief Society Broadcast that I wanted to go to. Then I would only have to find somewhere for Dreyson to go. I don't know how excited Kevin was to take a 3 year old with him to the game, but she had a BLAST!!
She got totally spoiled by Daddy. She came home with a new BYU hat and shirt, and even got to stop on the way home for a "slurp-a-lee" (Slurpee) a blue one, of course!

Singing the Cougar song after a touchdown. She totally got into it just like Kevin does!

It's finally here!

Today was Jena's first day of preschool. She has been so excited and couldn't wait for preschool to start. When I picked her up, I couldn't even get her to sit in the car. She kept on talking about and showing me all that she did. She had so much fun!

Happy Anniversary!

Kevin and I had our 4 year anniversary yesterday. We celebrated by going out to dinner on Monday night to Ruby River. Kevin took me to dinner at Ruby River the night he proposed to me. I will always remember it! I had NO CLUE that he was going to propose then. Of course, we'd talked about getting married, and I knew it was going to happen sometime, I just didn't know when. We went to dinner with his friend Chris, and his fiance Emily. Then we went to Temple Square because "we needed to look at what room in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building that we were going to have our wedding dinner in" (that's what he told me.) I don't know why I didn't think anything of it. It just didn't even cross my mind that he would propose that night. We were at the Joseph Smith building forever. I didn't know what was going on and why we had to be there for so long walking around. Little did I know, it was all just to buy some time so Chris and Emily could set some roses out for Kevin so that when we walked past the reflection pond there were roses sitting there and then he got down on one knee. How cute! Happy 4 years Kev! I love you!!!

Yesterday I was working on the laundry. I had just taken a load out of the dryer and put it into my room. When I came back, Drey was sitting in the dryer! Of course by the time I grabbed the camera, he was on his way out, so its not the greatest picture, but I thought it was funny.

Trip to the Cabin

We were able to go to Kevin's grandparents cabin in Wyoming this last weekend. It is such a fun place. We had a fun time, even though Drey cried most of the time. We decided that Drey is not much of a camper.
Drey did not want to be carried on the way back from the lake. He was fighting me all the way until I let him down and let him hike it all by himself. I just figured I should hold him since its all uphill, but he wanted to do it all by himself.

Out for a ride in the boat.

The kids loved to look out the window at the deer at the salt lick.

Notice how "happy" Drey is to be there.

Jena and her cousins, Brian and Mary. They were standing on these stumps and singing songs. Jena told me she was doing a concert.

Playing dominoes with the cousins.

Ready to go fishing with Dad on the boat.

We took the kids snail shell hunting. They loved it! Jena got "thousands!" (or so she thought.)

My mother-in-law and I started counting how many times Drey would fall down while hunting for snail shells. He only knows one speed...RUN! So, of course on a rocky dirt road, he tripped and fell many times. He started to think it was a game and started to just lay down in the road. Silly boy!

Dinosaur Museum

We decided to take advantage of $2 Tuesdays and go to the Dinosaur Museum last week. Notice how happy Drey is to be sitting there. Jena and cousin John

Brainwashed?

Kevin is the BIGGEST BYU fan ever...and Jena is going to be just like him. She loves blue, just like her daddy. She will only eat blue popsicles and blue yogurt. If you ask her if she likes red, she will tell you no, because red is bad. She even had a hard time when we went to the Real game and had to sit in red seats. Kevin had to convince her that red is ok in soccer.

Real Game

Kevin, Jena, and I went to the Real game on the 24th of July. It was the first game we had ever been to and we had a blast.

I think this picture is so cute of Jena looking up at Kevin.
