This past weekend, we were lucky enough to see Santa twice. First at our ward Christmas party, then later that same day at Kevin's grandparents Christmas party. It was so fun! I was so proud of both of my kids. Neither of them were scared or cried! I was especially proud of Jena. She is usually either really scared of people, or really friendly. I didn't know which one it was going to be with Santa. While she was waiting for her turn, she kept telling us "I'm so excited!!" It was so cute. Then when it was her turn, she just walked right up to him and got on his lap. She even talked to him and told him what she wanted. What a cute girl! Drey also wasn't scared. He just didn't know what to think. He just sat on his lap and stared at him. What cute kids I have!

So Different

I was just thinking about how different Dreyson looks now than when he was first born. So, I thought I would post a couple of pictures just to compare how different he looks. Here is a picture of him at 5 weeks, and a picture of him now.

Peek a Boo

This is Drey's new thing to do. Whenever I go in to get him out of his bed, he will be peeking out from under the bumper pads. Its so cute! (I was washing his sheets that day, so if you're wondering why he's just laying on the mattress, that's why. I did lay blankets down for him though. I didn't make him sleep on just his mattress. )

Pizza Time

A few weeks ago, I was making pizza for dinner. Jena was starting to drive me crazy (I forget why) so I had a "brilliant" idea of letting her help me. I needed something for her to do, to keep her busy. Lets just say....I had a lot of cleaning up to do afterwards.

7 Months, 2 teeth, and 3 haircuts!

I couldn't resist posting this picture of my little guys new haircut. I cannot believe Drey is already 7 months old. He is so stinking cute! He has 2 teeth now, which I am glad have finally pushed through so he isn't cranky anymore. And I finally gave in and cut off his hair. As much as I loved it being shaggy, it always looked messy and like I never did it. It was always matted in the back so I finally decided just to cut it off and give him a little boy haircut. I love it! I think he looks adorable!

Go Cougars!

I have been having problems with my card reader, so I haven't posted on here forever! There is so much I need to catch up on. But, I still can't get my card reader to work. So, until I can get my pictures on here....here is a little video of Jena singing the Cougar Fight Song. She is such a cutie!

I'm so tired...

Yesterday I gave Jena some lunch and then decided while she was eating, I would do some work on the computer. I hadn't been working for very long, when I realized she was being awfully quiet down there. I can usually hear her chatting away to herself. I decided to go check on her. She was asleep at the table. What a sweetie! When I got her up to go lay her in her bed, she had peanut butter and jam stuck all in her hair and on the side of her face.

My Mullet Babies

We were looking through Kevin's sisters Halloween costumes yesterday and came across this fabulous mullet. We had to try it on the kids. We started laughing so hard. Drey looked like baby "Joe Dirt" Ha!!

Big girl bed, here we come!

My sister Melanie and her husband just gave us this bed for Jena. She has been in a toddler bed for a while, but I was really excited to actually get a real bed for her. She was too! Here is her on her first night in her "Big Girl Bed." On the way up the stairs to bed, she said "Big girl bed....here we come!" It was so cute. This is the easiest she has gone to bed in a long time. She was so excited to sleep in it!

Kangaroo Zoo

Last week, we went with two of my sisters and my mom to the Kangaroo Zoo. We had a blast! It is such a fun place. It took Jena a little bit to warm up to what we were doing, but once she tried the slides and things, she loved them! She wanted to go on the same ones over and over and over. I think one of the best things about being a mom is seeing how excited your kids get when they are having fun. It was so fun! My mom watched Dreyson for me so I could play with Jena. Thanks Mom!

First haircut

My little guy was in desperate need of a haircut. He probably could have used one the day he was born, but he is just so darn cute with the shaggy hair and the curls, I just couldn't bring myself to cut them off. I finally had to give in and cut it. The poor little guy. His hair was always hanging in his eyes...not to mention the nice tail in the back. Ha! So, here are the before and after pictures:

MMM Bananas!

So last night I gave Drey some bananas, his first try with babyfood. Of course, I had to post the classic baby food faces. It was hilarious. He did not like it one bit! We didn't get much in him because he kept gagging. Poor guy! You'll like it someday.

Also, just a cute pic. Jena loves to lay on the floor by Drey. She always talks to him "Hi Dreyson! You love me??" So, here they are playing together and Jena was trying to kiss him.

My little kiddos and Superman

So the other day I said something to Jena about "my two little kiddos" and she thought that was pretty funny. She now keeps saying it back to me. "Mom, you have two kiddos?"

One day last week I was helping Jena go in the bathroom so she could go potty. I had Drey in my arm and Jena kept getting mad at me and telling me to put him down. I held him in one arm and lifted Jena on to the potty with the other. She still kept telling me to put him down. I jokingly told her, "Its ok Jena. I can do both because I'm super mom!" This was her response, "You're superman?" Now everytime we're in the bathroom, I hear, "Mom, you're superman? You can do both?"

She makes me laugh at all the things she remembers.

Go Cougars!

Kevin has taught Jena the BYU Fight Song. It is so cute to hear her sing it. She was sitting at the table eating dinner and I had left the room for a little bit and when I came back she was singing " Rah Rah, Rah Rah Rah...GO COUGARS!!" She had taken some of the plants out of my centerpiece and was using them as pom poms!

Lost Binkys

I am really bad with losing things. I lost 2 binkys in 2 weeks and I thought I had lost another one last night. One Sunday, we were getting ready for church and Kevin tossed Drey's binky in the diaper bag. On the way out the door, Drey started to fuss, so I grabbed the binky and put it in his mouth. Well, when we got to church, it wasn't there. Kevin kept insisting that he had put it in the diaper bag and I told him that I had taken it out to give to Drey. We checked in his car sear (where it usually is.)We looked all over and under our church bench. I even walked home between meetings to see if it had fallen out on the sidewalk or in the parking lot, or even in our kitchen or garage. I ended up just grabbing another one I had upstairs. About a week later, I lost that one too! I don't even have a story for that one. One minute he was sitting in his bouncy chair with it, and then I run upstairs to do something, and then I come back it was gone. I looked under our recliner and couch, and all over where he was sitting. Never found that one either.

Well, last night, I was trying to get Drey to sleep and Kevin was ready to go to bed. So, I sat Drey in his bouncy chair (with the binky in his mouth) and turned to say prayers with Kev so he could go to sleep. When we were done, I picked Drey back up and went to get his binky and it was gone!! I really thought I was loosing it. I kept thinking " I know he just had it cause he had it when I set him down" and then I kept second guessing myself... "wait, did he? or did I leave it downstairs? or is it by the computer?" I really thought I was loosing my mind. I searched all over my house for it, even though I was almost positive it was somewhere in my bedroom where I had set him down.

Finally, I just thought "Well, he's going to have to go to sleep with out one I guess, because I don't have anymore here." I layed him down on the floor for a minute while I did something (I can't remember what I was doing) and when he rolled over I heard a noise, like kind of a creaking sound. So I picked him up and I realized it was in his pajamas! Somehow it had gone inside his pajamas and got all the way down underneath his arm. Whew! I sure was happy that I found it and that I really wasn't going crazy!

Utah State Fair

Monday night we went to the Utah State Fair with Kevin's parents, his brother and his fam. It is a tradition in Kevin's family. They go every year. I love going to the fair. It is so much fun to me. Jena loved seeing all the animals. She even got to pet a bunny. She thought that was pretty cool.

They had all these cute cut out things were you could put your faces so we had to do it with Jena and cousin Mary.
Jena and I rode the Big Yellow Slide. (Its kind of hard to see, but we are standing in front of the slide) I always loved it growing up (well, I still do) and I was really excited for Jena to go on it with me because I thought for sure she would love it. You should have seen her face when she got off...I think she was scared to death! It did go faster than I remembered...
We always have to have a treat. The Cowley's tradition is to get a Carmel Apple, but Jena, Kevin, and I had ice cream.

Drey was so good at the fair, considering I left his binky in the car! I was so worried he was going to be really fussy, but he ended up falling asleep twice...even without the binky. I was so proud of him. It almost made me want to get rid of his binky all together....Almost.

Nana and Papa got Brian, Mary, and Jena cowboy hats at the fair. Jena loves it! I didn't really think she would care much about it, but she has worn it all over the place since she got it. She even had to wear it to the grocery store.

A couple of firsts...

Drey tried cereal for the first time this weekend. I have been wanting to give it to him for a while, but have been waiting till Kevin was home with me so he could take pictures. I just couldn't do it without getting some pictures. They make the funniest faces. Drey did pretty well. He didn't really know what to do, like even how to open his mouth when the spoon came. He'll get the hang of it eventually.

I also got out the exersaucer and cleaned it all up for him. He LOVED it! Jena used to love this thing when she was a baby. She could bounce in it all day long. I hope Drey will enjoy it as much as Jena did.

What the...?

This morning when I went to get Drey out of bed, this is what I found.... Don't ask me how he got his PJ pants off. He's only 5 months old! He must have kicked and wriggled enough to get them off. Silly guy!

Labor Day

For Labor Day, we went over to my parents for a BBQ. Jena was running around inside at my parents house and tripped and hit her head right above her eye on the ottoman of my parents rocking chair. Now she's got somewhat of a black eye. (except its only on her eyelid.)

Anniversary

I have been meaning to post this forever, but I just hadn't gotten around to doing it yet. Things have been kind of crazy around our house for a couple of weeks. Kevin and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary a couple weeks ago. It doesn't seem like its been that long already. Kevin's sister took the kids for us while we went to dinner. Then 3 days later, Kevin got his tonsils out. I had heard that it was really awful for an adult to get their tonsils out, but I didn't really think of how hard it would be. Not only how much pain he would be in, but I didn't realize that Kevin wouldn't be able to talk because it hurt too much, or how much he would rely on his pain medication that he took every 3 hours (even in the night), which he had to take with food or else it made him sick. So that meant that he was up in the night, cooking himself some Ramen so he could take his pain pill. Poor guy! I would have gotten up with him the night, but he never woke me up. Luckily, he is feeling much better now. Kevin also started school last week. That was kind of tricky. He still could hardly talk and he couldn't drive because of his medication. So, we had to figure out how he was going to get to and from school. Things are starting to get back to normal.

Thanksgiving Point

Today I went with my friend, Stephanie, and her two girls to Thanksgiving Point to see the animals. It sure was hot, but it was worth it just to see how excited the kids got when they saw the animals. It was also great because it was $2 Tuesday. The kids got to feed some goats and ducks and also went on a pony ride!

Cabin Trip

This last weekend we went up to a little place Kevin likes to call "Heaven on Earth", his grandparents cabin. It is up in Smoot, Wyoming. It is such a fun place. There is no electricity, so its nice to actually get away and have no distractions. We had a great time. Here are a few things we did:

-Went for boat rides

-Went fishing

-Locked ourselves out of the cabin (luckily, someone had put a spare key on with the boat keys, but it was pretty scary there for a while)

-Our friends Trevor and Heather came to stay with us for a night and we played games

-Read

-Naps for everyone

-Lots and lots of treats

Potty Training (Week 1)

I decided last week that I was going to start potty training Jena this week. We went to the store and I let her pick out her own "big girl undies" and a treat that she could get every time she went potty. So, I started on Monday...and by Wednesday, I was about to pull my hair out!! It seemed like every time I put her undies on her, she would wet them almost immediately. At least within like 5 minutes of having them on. But I kept telling myself "No turning back! Just be consistent and keep working on it." And on Thursday, it seemed to start to click. She has done so good since then. Today was our first day that she has been clean and dry the entire day!! Yay!!! I know we will still have accidents and I'm not expecting her to be perfect at it, but I'm just so proud of her for doing so good today. We even went to Kevin's work and ran to a couple of stores, and she told me every time she needed to go. Yay Jena!

Today I left the room just long enough to put Drey down in his crib for a nap and came back to see Jena sitting in his swing!

Family Reunion

When I was little, my mom's side of the family used to have the BEST Christmas parties. They were always so fun! So, this year for our family reunion, my mom decided we were going to have a Christmas party. It was a lot of fun. My mom had it all decorated festive. We played the games we used to- the Left and Right game, and count how many candies are in the jar. They also had a pinata for the kids. 24th of July

We went over to Kevin's parents house for a BBQ on the 24th. All the kids had fun swimming in the little pools and going down the slip and slide. Jena loved it when Kevin would push her down it.

Our Saturday

Kevin has been working really hard this summer on getting our yard looking nice, so today he was out working on it again. I took the kids out to play.
